About the author:
Kandy Kay Scaramuzzo is a seventh
generation Texan who has her own brick at The Cowgirl Museum. She has taught in
alternative education for over twenty years. Ms.Scaramuzzo is a member of the
2012 Strathmore's Who's Who. She has a BA in Criminology and MAedCT. She works
in horse, dog, cat and snake rescues. Ms. Scaramuzzo has been a tester observer
for therapy dogs for nine years. She ran a therapy horse riding program for autistic
children for five years. She has been a recognized animal behaviorist for over
20 years. This is her first book about an exceptional horse. She feels it is
important to give back to maintain the balance of a civilized society.
1. What
kind of music do you listen to?
I must
admit I am a bit of an enigma. I live in Texas, wrote a book about a horse,
drive a ¾ ton diesel pickup truck, and spend all my spare time with my personal
herd of six horses. A friend of mine had a sign made that hangs in my office
giving me the title, “Horse Dive”.
Considering all of the above you would think I listen to country music. You would be wrong. I am a rocker.
I love the rockers and their intense music.
I have a playlist that includes Coldplay, Korn, Redlight King, Egypt Central,
Skillet, Avenged Sevenfold, Three Days Grace, Ozzie, and The Monkees. I am a very intense person and the music
really blends well with my personality. Go figure, looks like I am a rocking
out Horse Diva!
2. If you could eat any type of food while you are
writing,
3. What
will it be? Why?
I think
I mentioned in the previous question that I was a bit intense, you can add to
that I am a binger. When I was working on my book this last summer, I ate
watermelon and sauerkraut everyday. (Don’t worry, I didn’t eat them
together.) Summers in Texas are HOT! My husband complains that we are two miles
from the sun. These foods were cool but seasonal. When the watermelon went out
of season, I switched to cherries and almonds. I can pretty much quit binging
on food as quickly as I started. Right now, I am hooked on honey crisp apples
and Brazil nuts. My horses love this particular binge because I save the cores
for them.
So I
guess my favorite writing food could be described as whatever I happen to be
binging on at the moment.
4. What
is your favorite TV show and why?

Did I
happen to mention that I am a bit quirky?
I love all the old ancient monster movies and TV shows. I’m talking
about the classics like Lon Chaney movies and the Dark Shadows series. I know it is sad with all the HD movies out
there these days, but the old ones just draw me into them with their classic
charm. That being said, I have two favorite shows out there now, The Walking
Dead and Castle. They are so different, yet so alike.
The
Walking Dead just amuses the fire out of me. There are so many things wrong
with the show, yet no one seems to notice. One example is that these are the
fastest zombies in history. Why is it the zombies can see and smell you unless
you have chopped the arms off an d broken the jaw of some unfortunate zombie
and you have him attached to you via chain or an official zombie walking stick?
It is so silly, it is quite the fun ride.
What I
like about Castle is the way he will stop and come up with an alternative
scenario in his writer’s voice. The man is most amusing to me. I really don’t
think any city in the world would allow him to actually tag along with the
police the way he does. The insurance issues alone would be a nightmare.
I seem
to be drawn to the shows that can’t actually happen. Anyone remember TJ
Hooker? It was absolutely amazing the
way he answered every call by himself.
He saved the city many times all by himself. Horatio Cane on CSI Miami
did the same things but alas, he was cancelled so I guess I am stuck with
zombies and delinquent writers for now. Although I have heard rumors of a
series called Grimm that sounds quite intriguing. Since I watch TV for
entertainment, these two shows seem to fit the bill just fine for me, for right now anyway.
6. If
you could write any book, even if it has been written
7. Already,
which one would will it be? Why?
8.
I could
take the high road on this one and Crime and Punishment, which happens to be
one of my favorite books, but I would not be telling the truth. After I read
Abe Lincoln, Vampire Hunter and George Washington Werewolf, I thought it would be all kinds of grins and
giggles to rewrite history strategically placing monsters in influential
positions. (This would be much to the chagrin of my friend, the History
Teacher.) I just can’t seem to make up
my mind if I want to do World History or narrow it down to American History.
One thing I know for sure is that The Creature from The Black Lagoon would have
a starring role since he has been grossly under-represented in the monster
genre. Fashionistas everywhere are saying add color, color, and more color. I
think he would be a refreshing accent piece in the halls of history with his
refreshing green color. Besides who can resist his cute little gills and the
way the bubbles come out of the top of his head?
9. Five
Things you’ll take with you to a deserted island?
For
this question, I think I am going to take the Gilligan’s Island
approach. You know the one, they went on a three hour and basically had
everything they ever needed for a multi year comfortable stay on a deserted
island. I am thinking my family and all my critters could swim to shore with me
so I am not including them on the list. This is taking a big leap of faith,
since I have never seen my cats swim, but if they can do it on the Beverly
Hillbillies, I have to assume it is possible.
The
first thing I would take is my Kindle with a solar charger and d an endless
whisper net connection.
Secondly,
since I am from Texas,
I would have to have my Bowie knife.
Third,
I would take an endless supply of moisturizing soap. I can’t stand the slimy
feel of salt water on my body.
Let’s
see the fourth thing would be several of those magical crates marked food and
water that magically refills so no one would ever go hungry or thirsty. It worked for the passengers of the S.S.
Minnow.
The
fifth thing would be bad Nielson Ratings so the trip would be over because it
was cancelled and we could all go home on the mysterious boat that would show
up to rescue us. We would of course get together every three years for a
reunion show.
